Vodacom Bulls centre David Krielâs missed conversion influenced his match-winning penalty goal against Leinster at Loftus on Saturday.
Trailing 20-18 in the 83rd minute of the Vodacom URC match, the Bulls won a scrum penalty.
And Kriel, who had taken over the goal-kicking from substituted flyhalf Keagan Johannes, pointed to the posts.
âMy previous kick [the attempted conversion of Johan Grobbelaarâs 71st minute try] struck the [right-hand] upright,â he told Rapport.
âI realised that I shouldnât think too much. As I stepped back for that last kick I just said to myself: Youâve done thousands of kicks like this before; just do what you always do âŠ
âAnd then the kick went over!â
With two seconds on the clock the Vodacom Bulls trailed 18-20 to Leinster.
At 84:27, they won the match 21-20

REPORT: Kriel boots Bulls past Leinster
The Bulls ended Leinsterâs 12-match winning run in this seasonâs Vodacom URC while remaining third on the log, one point ahead of the Sharks and four behind Glasgow.
âThis victory is extremely positive for us as a group, simply because Leinster were still unbeaten and are at the top of the table,â Kriel said. âThey are clearly doing something right and beating them means a lot for our self-confidence.
ALSO: Rate your Bulls at Loftus
âThe big thing is, as a group we were hungry, we were desperate and it showed tonight. When things got tough and we were behind, and it looked like Leinster were getting the upper hand, we didnât go back into our shell. We simply kept knocking on the door.â
