Stormers flyhalf Manie Libbok is set to join Kintetsu Liners next season, where Wallabies legend Quade Cooper has reportedly been lined up as backline coach.

According to Rapport, Libbok will join former Vodacom Bulls teammate Burger Odendaal at the Japanese outfit, with Cooper’s presence apparently influencing Libbok’s decision after the Australian confirmed he is retiring as a player after six years at the club.

While initially structured as a sabbatical with Libbok contracted to the Stormers until 2028, director of rugby John Dobson has acknowledged to Netwerk24 that the Springbok world champion may have played his final match for the Cape outfit.

Libbok’s desire for a permanent exit is linked to the emergence of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu as the preferred option at No 10 for the Stormers.

The 27-year-old is expected to face Cardiff at Cape Town Stadium next Friday after sitting out Saturday’s Vodacom URC win over Dragons on medical grounds.
