Veteran flanker Dan Lydiate marks his 150th appearance in the Vodacom URC when Dragons face the Stormers for the first time at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

The Dragons also receive a big boost with captain Ben Carter returning to the second row, as head coach Filo Tiatia makes three team changes for the penultimate fixture of the Welsh outfit’s challenging campaign.

Huw Anderson and Harry Wilson strengthen the backline at fullback and centre, respectively, while Lloyd Evans provides flyhalf cover from the bench.

The Dragons enter the clash as underdogs, having secured just one victory in the URC this season and sitting bottom of the table. Meanwhile, the sixth-placed Stormers thrashed Benetton last time out.

“We’re happy to be in South Africa and under no illusion to the challenge,” Tiatia told the club’s website. “They are pretty good at getting over the gainline, second in those league stats, so they like to play.

“This group is also not going to be the same moving to next season, so it’s important the players finish strong, and we control what we can control.”
