With the Vodacom Bulls hosting champions Bordeaux Begles on Saturday, here’s a reminder of what happened when the teams last met at Loftus in January 2024.
Jake White’s side exploded out of the blocks in the Investec Champions Cup pool match, scoring four first-half tries and racking up a 26-14 lead at the break. Captain Marcell Coetzee powered over twice, Devon Williams finished off a slick set-piece move, and David Kriel struck on the stroke of half-time to secure the bonus point. Johan Goosen contributed 10 points from the tee.
Bordeaux, despite losing Carlu Sadie to an early yellow card, kept themselves in the contest through tries from Romain Buros and Adam Coleman. The French outfit then mounted a fierce second-half surge, with Madosh Tambwe, Tevita Tatafu (two) and Paul Abadie crossing.

Fullback Willie le Roux scored the Bulls’ first try after the restart, Embrose Papier added another, and replacement Jaco van der Walt kicked two late penalties to seal a 46-40 win that booked their place in the Champions Cup playoffs.
