Sharks-bound Thomas du Toit has made it clear there will be no thoughts of the Springboks or his return to Durban until Bath’s Premiership campaign is finished.

The powerful prop says he’s determined to savour every remaining moment with Bath as the English club pushes for domestic silverware in the closing weeks of the season.

“My immediate focus is the Premiership because that’s the only focus that we’ve got now,” Du Toit said on The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast.

“One of my biggest fears is missing a moment with the Premiership and the last couple of weeks we’ve got here.”

The 31-year-old will return to the Sharks after establishing himself as a key figure at Bath, but insists his full attention remains fixed on the club’s title charge.

“I don’t want to miss a beat,” he said. “I just want to soak up every moment that I’ve got with Bath and I really want to have that sole focus on winning the Premiership.”

Bath remain firmly in the hunt for a top-two finish, which would secure a home semi-final in the Premiership playoffs, but face tough opposition in Bristol away and the Leicester Tigers at home before getting there.

Du Toit knows there is still work to be done before thoughts can turn to the semi-finals.

“Obviously, getting there we still have to qualify and end first or second,” he said. “We hopefully have four games left to play with the semi-final.”

The experienced Bok prop was this week confirmed by the Sharks as one of their imports for the new season.
