Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu has hailed his Springbok teammates for making captain Siya Kolisi’s 100th Test a memorable one.

The 23-year-old superstar put in a Man of the Match performance in South Africa’s 32-17 win over Les Bleus at the Stade de France on Saturday night.

The Boks had to play with 14 men for the entire second half due to Lood de Jager’s red card.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu said the match lived up to its billing as one of the toughest of the year.

“That was what we thought it was going to be at the Stade de France – 14-13 at half time, it was tough. We were getting good reward from our contestable kicking game, but we weren’t getting points on the board.

“But I’m just so proud that everyone stuck in and made it special for big Siya.”

It was yet another strong and assured performance from the Stormers pivot, who is making the Bok No 10 jersey his own. But Feinberg-Mngomezulu was quick to deflect the spotlight.

“It’s good fun,” he said with a smile. “I’m part of such an incredible team. Playing for my country on a Saturday – it’s my dream. It’s all of our dream. These little things [awards] don’t mean much. I’m just happy that we won with 15 points here today to make Siya’s day.”

Feinberg-Mngomezulu also shared some insight into the kind of captain Kolisi is.

“I got injured on 28 December against the Sharks, and we chatted after the game and he told me to hang tight and that we were going to make memories together,” the young Bok revealed. “Since then, we’ve won a Rugby Championship, Freedom Cup and a very tough away game here.

“He’s done so much for me and the whole country. He’s a real leader and leads by example.”
