Jeandre Rudolph believes the Vodacom Bulls are edging closer to a turnaround, even as results continue to test their resolve.

The loose forward says there were clear signs of progress in the 13-8 defeat to the Stormers in Cape Town, despite the frustration of another loss.

“It’s never nice to lose and we’ll never be satisfied with that, but it was still a step in the right direction,” Rudolph told Netwerk24.

“It’s not the result we wanted, but we wanted to improve on the performance we delivered in the previous match against the Sharks.”

NORTJE: Bulls back Willie all the way

While the Bulls remain stuck in a difficult run, Rudolph is confident the tide will turn.

“It’s such a great union that has enjoyed a lot of success over the past few seasons. We’re currently in a tough place, because just like winning can become a habit, losing can also become a habit,” he said.

“Sometimes it happens that the harder you try, the less things work out for you.”

AFRICA PICKS: Pressure builds across Champions Cup pools

Individually, Rudolph says he is encouraged by his own form and opportunities, especially in a pack stacked with Springbok pedigree.

“I’m happy with my game, and it helps that I’m getting a lot of game time. I’m grateful for every opportunity,” he said.

“I was the only guy in the pack on Saturday who isn’t a Springbok. It’s good for me to play alongside so many experienced players. I want to show that I belong in that group and I want to learn as much as possible from them.”

CHAMPIONS CUP POOL 4: Bulls must go on charge

The Bulls host the Bristol Bears in the Investec Champions Cup at Loftus on Saturday, having lost their first two pool matches of the tournament.

Their final pool clash is against Pau, who are second on the Top 14 log, in France.
