The Springboks won 12 out of 14 Tests this year, but which victory was the most impressive?

The world champions kicked off the Test season with a 2-0 home series win against Italy, followed by a big victory against Georgia in Nelspruit.

The Boks’ Castle Rugby Championship campaign began with a shock defeat to the Wallabies at Ellis Park, but they gained a semblance of revenge a week later at Cape Town Stadium.

While an opportunity to make history at Eden Park was missed, the Boks scored six tries in Wellington to inflict the heaviest-ever defeat on the All Blacks.

Back-to-back wins against Argentina, at Kings Park and Twickenham, then saw South Africa retain the Rugby Championship title for the first time in the competition’s 27-year history.

The Boks underlined their status as the world’s No 1-ranked side with an unbeaten five-match European tour.

After hammering Japan at Wembley, Rassie Erasmus’ men claimed a famous win against France in Paris despite playing the entire second half with 14 men. A week later, they battled past Italy in Turin after receiving an early red card.

The Boks then defeated Ireland in Dublin for the first time since 2012, before scoring 11 tries in Cardiff to hand Wales their worst-ever home defeat.
