Bristol Bears speedster Louis Rees-Zammit has been declared fit for Saturday’s Investec Champions Cup clash against the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria.
Rees-Zammit was forced from the field during Bristol’s win over Sale on Saturday after a head collision, but coach Pat Lam moved quickly to ease concerns, confirming the winger passed his HIA and was withdrawn purely as a precaution.
“He wasn’t feeling 100% so we don’t take any risks with anyone with their head,” Lam said. “He should hopefully be right for South Africa, which will suit him.”
The Bears face a daunting assignment at Loftus Versfeld in their Champions Cup Group A encounter, with Rees-Zammit’s pace and finishing expected to be a major weapon against the Bulls.

Lam also provided updates on a number of other injury concerns following the Sale match. LJ Lovejoy Chawatama picked up a calf issue, while young winger Aidan Boshoff was ruled out after suffering an injury in the warm-up.
“Boshoff [was injured in] the warm-up. He’s in a moon boot [foot cast], he’s a little bit down, but I just said to him, ‘just come back faster, trust the process,’” Lam explained. “And reminded him that everyone was available selection and a lot more available, and he got that spot.”
