The Lions have moved quickly to tie down one of their most exciting players.

Former Junior Boks scrumhalf Haashim Pead has committed his future to the Joburg-based union until 2028.

Player of the Tournament at last year’s World Rugby U20 Championship, Pead recently announced himself on the Vodacom URC stage with a match-winning try against the Sharks in Durban.

His rugby journey began at SK Walmers RFC in the Bo-Kaap, inspired by watching his father play, before progressing through Bishops and representing Western Province at the U18 Craven Week in 2023.

However, it was the Lions who first showed interest in signing Pead, and he left Cape Town for Joburg.
