JP Pietersen is expected to be appointed Sharks head coach on a permanent basis, while John Plumtree could play a consulting role.
According to Rapport, an announcement on the Sharks coaching structure is understood to be imminent, with owner Marco Masotti in Durban this week as key decisions near completion.
Pietersen has been in charge since Plumtree stepped away from the senior role at the end of last year, and is widely viewed as the frontrunner to be confirmed as head coach. Those close to the process believe his strong working relationships within the current coaching group have strengthened his case.

In a potential twist, Plumtree may yet remain involved with the club for another season in a consulting capacity.
The Sharks have kept details tightly under wraps following a deep review of its high-performance structures, led by Alan Zondagh, Stefan Terblanche and Grant Bashford. Despite the extensive audit, large-scale changes are not expected.
