Jean-Luc du Preez is unlikely to feature for the Springboks again this year.
The 30-year-old, 14-Test loose forward was set to start at No 8 against the All Blacks at Eden Park on Saturday before suffering a knee injury in training on Tuesday.
It comes two weeks after Du Preez was ruled out of the second Test against the Wallabies in Cape Town on the morning of the game due to illness.
That would’ve been his first Test start in seven years after he’d worn the No 8 jersey in the non-cap match against the Barbarians.

“I think he will be sidelined for a substantial period,” coach Rassie Erasmus said on Thursday when naming his match 23.
That suggests Du Preez will be unavailable for the Springboks’ November tour, which includes matches against Japan, France, Italy, Ireland and Wales.
