Ethan Hooker says “exciting things are coming” from the Sharks in Saturday’s Vodacom URC clash against Ulster at Kings Park.

The Sharks are still searching for their first win of the season after defeats to Glasgow and Leinster, and a draw with the Dragons on their three-match tour.

URC ROUND 4: Keo’s accumulator

Hooker, who impressed on the left wing for the Springboks during the Rugby Championship and scored the Sharks’ only try against Leinster, is relishing the opportunity to play in front of the Durban faithful again.

“They can look forward to this weekend’s game, just as we are,” said the 22-year-old. “We’ve been training very hard. Exciting things are coming this weekend. I hope it’s going to be a full stadium and there’s a good game of rugby on show.”

PLUM: Massive job ahead of Sharks

Having spent time in the Springbok camp, Hooker wants to bring that winning edge to the Sharks.

“The biggest thing I took from the Boks is just how clinical they are, especially when it comes to winning games. I’d like to transfer that into our Sharks team and create a culture around it.”

The Sharks face a confident Ulster side coming off a 28-7 win against the Bulls in Belfast last weekend.

“They’re a very clinical and physical team. We’ve got to match that and overpower them, use our big, experienced forwards to get over the gain line and then let the backs finish the job.”

PLUM: Hooker to go Frans Steyn route

Hooker knows the importance of making a statement at home.

“It’s our first home game and it’s a big one. We don’t want to lose any home games, so we’re going to come firing out the blocks and hopefully keep that intensity for 80 minutes.”
