Griquas produced a dominant seven-try display to claim a convincing 47-17 victory over Western Province in Kimberley on Friday.
The hosts took the lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back, Griquas lock Albert Liebenberg finishing off a flowing team move under the posts, with flyhalf George Whitehead converting. Outside centre Zane Bester soon doubled the advantage, darting over after collecting Whitehead’s neat inside pass for 14-0.

Keo & Zels – Back the Boks to go back to back
Province hit back through replacement loose forward Aden da Costa, who finished in the corner on debut, Matthee adding the extras. Liebenberg was denied a second try after an error in the build up, but Griquas regained momentum when scrumhalf Caleb Abrahams sniped over from close range to make it 21-7 at the break.
After the restart, Griquas extended their advantage when Gurshwin Wehr pounced on a turnover inside Province’s 22m. Whitehead converted before veteran hooker Scarra Ntubeni gave the visitors hope, chasing down a loose ball to dot down.

Any comeback was short-lived, with lock Derik Pretorius powering over, followed by Ezekiel Ngobeni’s reply for Province. Flanker Carl Els then claimed Griquas’ sixth try before replacement scrumhalf Thomas Bursey rounded off the scoring to seal a comprehensive win.
Griquas will look to extend their strong start when they host the Sharks in round 4, while winless Western Province face a tough trip to Bloemfontein to take on Frans Steyn’s Cheetahs.
