A former Western Province and Stormers midfielder will call Toulon his new rugby home from next season.
The French Top 14 heavyweights confirmed on Tuesday that Scotland international Huw Jones has agreed to a two-year deal, bringing an end to his long association with the Glasgow Warriors.
Jones, who turned 32 in December, has been a mainstay for Scotland in recent seasons, scoring 23 tries in 58 Tests. He also started all three Tests for the British & Irish Lions on their tour of Australia last year, underlining his standing as one of the northern hemisphere’s most reliable midfield operators.

While Jones has become closely associated with Glasgow since joining the club in 2017, South African rugby fans will remember him well from his formative professional years in Cape Town. The Edinburgh-born centre spent three seasons with WP and the Stormers, where he developed his game before returning north to establish himself on the international stage.
Toulon sporting director Laurent Emmanuelli described Jones as a proven performer at the highest level.
“He is an international-class player, a key member of his national team, who has long been playing at the highest European and world levels,” Emmanuelli said in a statement.

Jones had a brief spell with Harlequins during the 2021-22 season, but has otherwise been a cornerstone of Glasgow’s backline for much of the past decade.
His arrival in the south of France will add experience and strike power to Toulon’s midfield, particularly with Ma’a Nonu and Jeremy Sinzelle both out of contract at the end of the season.
