The Wallabies have called in reinforcements following their win over Japan in Tokyo on Saturday.

Darcy Swain has been drafted into the squad to bolster their forward pack after suffering a double blow in the second row against the Brave Blossoms.

Swain, the Western Force lock, has been called into the squad after Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Josh Canham both picked up injuries in Saturday’s Test.

Salakaia-Loto was forced off in the opening quarter with a rib complaint, replaced by Canham – who later left the field after suffering a concussion.

Coach Joe Schmidt confirmed that both players are doubtful for next week’s clash with England at Twickenham, prompting Swain’s call-up.

“With England’s strong pack, it just means that we are light in the second row, and we may need to get some reserves dug out from Australia,” Schmidt said post-match.

“Josh Canham obviously won’t be available next week, and as yet, I don’t have the full feedback on Lukhan Salakaia-Loto.”

Swain, 28, is now in line for his first Test appearance since 2022, completing a remarkable return to the international setup.

After a standout Super Rugby season with the Force, the former Brumbies lock earned selection in the wider Wallabies group for the British & Irish Lions tour, where he featured against the Lions for both the Force and First Nations Pasifika.

He also impressed for Australia A, producing a Man of the Match display – including a double and dominant lineout performance – against the Japan XV.
