How things stand in Pool 2 of the Investec Champions Cup ahead of the final round of pool fixtures.

The top four in each six-team pool progress to the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition, with the fifth-placed team dropping down to the EPCR Challenge Cup.

Pool 2 is by far the tightest and the only one where no team has yet qualified for the playoffs. That tells you everything about what’s shaping to be an absolute humdinger of a final round of fixtures.

In round three, Bath stayed top with a 43-20 win over Castres while Edinburgh’s 26-24 victory over Gloucester lifted them to second on 10 log points.  Toulon, who narrowly beat Munster, are on nine.

CHAMPIONS CUP POOL 1: Sharks living on the edge

The rest of Pool 2 is made up of Munster (six), Gloucester (six) and Castres (five) and everyone is still in the mix to qualify for the playoffs.

The final pool fixtures are:

  • Bath vs Edinburgh
  • Munster vs Castres
  • Gloucester vs Toulon

Bath and Edinburgh have identical win-loss records, as do Munster and Castres. Points difference between all the sides is also negligible so don’t be surprised if that ends up being the determining factor.

Good luck if you are the betting kind.
