Eben Etzebeth, who turns 34 today, has been the ultimate enforcer for the Springboks.

The giant lock made a rapid rise to the heights of Test rugby, instantly establishing himself as a mainstay in the Bok pack after making his debut in 2012 and constantly enforcing their will.

Etzebeth was the youngest Bok to reach 50 Test caps for South Africa in 2016, at the age of 24, and in 2024 he earned his 128th cap to break Victor Matfield’s national record.

Etzebeth had increased his tally to 138 going into the 2025 end-of-year tour.
