Springbok centre Damian de Allende dotted down for the Wild Knights as South Africa’s foreign legion impressed in the latest round of Japanese Rugby League One.

It was a battle of the Springbok centres with De Allende‘s Saitama Panasonic Wild Knights claiming a convincing 50-21 win against Jesse Kriel‘s Canon Eagles in Kanagawa. Kriel captained the Eagles, while De Allende powered over for the Wild Knights in the first half.

Former Bulls loose forward Willie Potgieter featured off the bench for the Kobe Steelers in their 67-21 win against the Tokyo Black Rams in Hyogo.

Flank Kwagga Smith captained the Shizuoka Blue Revs to a 47-36 home win against the Mitsubishi Dynaboars. Blue Revs centre Sylvian Mahuza was shown a red card in the early stages, while tighthead prop Pieter Scholtz and midfielder Lukhanyo Am started for the Dynaboars.

Springbok No 8 Jasper Wiese came off the bench in the Urayasu D-Rocks’ 38-27 defeat to the Toshiba Brave Lupus.

Cheslin Kolbe started at fullback for the Suntory Sungoliaths in a 30-15 win against the Honda Heat in Yamanashi. Flank Franco Mostert captained the Heat, while prop Matthys Basson, lock Janko Swanepoel and centre Dawid Kellerman all featured for the visitors.

Nine South Africans ran out in the Kubota Spears’ 39-10 win against the Toyota Verblitz in Tokyo. World Rugby Player of the Year Malcolm Marx, Ruan Botha, David Bullbring, Tyler Paul and Merwe Olivier scrummed down for Kubota, while Rikus Pretorius and Gerhard van den Heever started in the backline. Paul, Olivier, Pretorius and Van der Heever all got on the scoresheet. Hooker Schalk Erasmus and lock Lourens Erasmus were in the Verblitz pack.
