We think 2026 is going to be on fire, and we have a number of partners who are just getting ready to give notice and start at their new firms in the very, very near future, and we’re seeing that all across the country. Like the end of 2025, firms are going to be extremely aggressive in their lateral partner hiring.

— Jeffrey Lowe, market president of Washington DC for legal recruitment firm CenterPeak, in comments given to the National Law Journal, concerning expected lateral activity in 2026. Amy Savage, a D.C.-based recruiter at Garrison & Sisson, echoed Lowe’s thoughts, saying, “2026 might be a record year in terms of lateral hiring.”
