Cardiff and the Ospreys triumphed in Friday night’s Welsh Vodacom URC derbies.

At a packed Arms Park, Cardiff edged the Dragons 22-19 to move up to second on the log.

The sides were locked at 12-12 at half-time after tries from Cardiff prop Javan Sebastian and flank Alex Mann, while Dragons scrumhalf Che Hope crossed twice to keep the visitors firmly in the contest.

Wales wing Josh Adams struck early in the second half to nudge Cardiff ahead. Despite being reduced to 14 men following a yellow card for lock Josh McInally, the hosts defended stoutly during a prolonged late assault to seal the win.

Former Bulls and Pumas flyhalf Tinus de Beer started for the Dragons, with South African props Robert Hunt and Cebo Dlamini also featuring.

Earlier on Friday, the Ospreys climbed off the foot of the table with a 26-19 win over the Scarlets in Llanelli.

Centre Owen Watkin, hooker Dewi Lake, scrumhalf Kieran Hardy and replacement wing Iestyn Hopkins scored tries for the visitors.

NIENABER: Leinster must stop stuffing up

Winger Joe Roberts scored twice for the hosts before South African replacement flank Jarrod Taylor grabbed a late consolation.

The South African sides are not in action this weekend, with the Lions playing their round-eight fixture against the Sharks at Ellis Park on 21 February, while the Stormers will travel to Loftus to take on the Vodacom Bulls on 14 March.
