A Du Preez brother is reportedly on the verge of heading back to Durban along with a Springbok lock.

According to IOL Sport, No 8 Dan du Preez is keen to return to the Sharks, who he represented from 2015 to 2019 before joining the Sale Sharks in Manchester along with twin Jean-Luc and older brother Rob.

While former Bulls loose forward Hanro Liebenberg – currently at the Leicester Tigers – was also sounded out, he is believed to be leaning towards a return to Pretoria.

Du Preez made his Springbok debut in 2017, earning the last of his six caps in 2021.

SIYA: Decision to leave Sharks wasn’t easy

IOL Sport says the Sharks are also expected to welcome back Stephan Lewies, the current Harlequins captain, who would bring valuable leadership and experience to the second row.

His arrival would help shore up a position where the Sharks have been stretched by injuries, as well as Eben Etzebeth’s suspension.

Lewies has one Bok cap, having come off the bench against Scotland in 2014.
