The Lions have secured the services of a Springbok for the foreseeable future.
The Joburg-based franchise announced on Monday that flank Ruan Venter – who made his Test debut off the bench against Portugal in Bloemfontein last year – will remain at Ellis Park up until June 2028.
Venter made his senior Lions debut in 2022 and has rapidly become one of their most influential players. A powerful ball-carrier with a heavy defensive presence, he has grown into a central figure in Ivan van Rooyen’s squad and one of South Africa’s brightest young forwards.
The 23-year-old has made 75 appearances for the Lions across all competitions, scoring 16 tries, and is eager to add to his solitary Bok cap.
