Springbok hardman Eben Etzebeth may have to wait until at least Sunday to learn his fate.
This after a World Rugby disciplinary panel reportedly failed to reach agreement on what punishment he should face for allegedly eye-gouging Wales flank Alex Mann.
According to Netwerk24, the hearing – which began at 7pm on Tuesday and ran close to midnight – ended without a decision, with the panel requesting additional time amid reports of major disagreement over the severity of the sanction.
Etzebeth was sent off late in the Springboks’ 73-0 demolition of Wales in Cardiff after footage showed him pressing his thumb into Mann’s eye in the 78th minute. French referee Luc Ramos had no hesitation in showing red.

Eye-gouging carries a top-end ban of 24 months, although Etzebeth’s otherwise spotless disciplinary record – this was his first red card in 141 Tests – is expected to count in his favour.
Even so, insiders believe that a suspension of 16 to 18 weeks would still be considered a relatively lucky outcome.
