SA Rugby president Mark Alexander has paid glowing tribute to the Springboks after a landmark 2025 season.

It’s been a season that delivered silverware, history and another reminder of the team’s power to unite South Africans everywhere.

The Boks returned home on Monday after completing a perfect five-from-five November tour, sealing a second successive unbeaten northern-hemisphere campaign and reinforcing their status as the world’s No 1 side for a third straight year.

Their year as a whole was just as formidable: 12 wins from 14 Tests, a successful defence of the Castle Rugby Championship, and an attacking return of 81 tries – matching the all-time record set in 2007, but achieved at a far more ruthless clip of 5.78 tries per Test.

Alexander said the team had once again shown why the Springbok jersey carries such weight at home and abroad.

“On behalf of SA Rugby, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to Rassie Erasmus, Siya Kolisi, the Springbok coaches, management team and the entire squad for their outstanding performances over the past year,” he said.

“Your sacrifices, dedication and unwavering commitment have once again united our nation and inspired millions.

“The Springboks have not only delivered excellence on the field, but have also carried themselves with dignity and humility off it – serving as true ambassadors of South Africa.”

“We salute the coaches, management and every player for the role you have played in strengthening the Springbok legacy.

“Your efforts have elevated South Africa’s standing on the global stage and reminded us all of the power of rugby and sport to bring people together.”
