Fullback Rhyno Smith has extended his contract with Benetton.

The South African has signed on until June 2028, continuing a memorable spell with the Treviso-based URC side.

Smith joined Benetton in 2021 and quickly became a fan favourite. Since then, he has scored 390 points in 78 appearances – including 35 tries, 31 conversions, 55 penalties and four drop goals – while showcasing the attacking flair and creativity that have made him one of the club’s standout performers.

The 31-year-old, who can also cover flyhalf and wing, previously represented the Cheetahs in the URC and the Sharks in Super Rugby and the Currie Cup.

He has twice played for the Barbarians, most recently in October.

“I came to Treviso wanting a new experience — to play differently, meet new people and explore a new culture. I never imagined I’d find a new home here,” said Smith.

“This place has become a part of me. On and off the pitch, I’ve found an environment where I can play fearlessly, have fun and rediscover my passion for rugby.

“Staying here was the easiest decision of my career, and I believe the best is yet to come.”
