France coach Fabien Galthié has another injury headache ahead of the crunch Test against the Springboks in Paris on Saturday.

Stade Français fullback Léo Barré has been called up to replace Bayonne flyhalf Joris Segonds in Galthié’s 42-man squad.

Capped nine times for Les Bleus, the 23-year-old replaces his former club teammate who joined Bayonne for the 2024–25 season.

Segonds went off injured during Bayonne’s 49–7 Top 14 victory over Montauban on Saturday, having kicked six conversions.

Barré, meanwhile, had not been retained for the second training block after spending the first week with the squad at Marcoussis.

Following Saturday’s clash with the reigning back-to-back world champions – their first meeting since France’s 29–28 defeat in the 2023 World Cup quarter-final in Paris – Les Bleus will face Fiji on 15 November in Bordeaux, before hosting the Wallabies at the Stade de France a week later.
