Jaden Hendrikse starts at flyhalf for the Sharks’ opening Vodacom URC match against the Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun Stadium on Friday night.

The Springbok scrumhalf has been backed in the role by coach John Plumtree following injuries to his brother, Jordan, and Siya Masuku. Jean Smith is on the bench.

Meanwhile, Bok lock Marvin Orie is one of six players set to make his Sharks URC debut, having recently arrived in Durban from Pretoria. He boasts 16 Test caps and a 13-year professional career spanning over 200 appearances for the Vodacom Bulls, Lions, Stormers, Ospreys and Perpignan.

“He’s our lineout caller, although Deon Slabbert can also call, so they will help each other. His experience in pressure moments should help us a lot,” said Plumtree.

“I really want him to bring his own game, he’s got to prove himself to us. We know what he can do and has done, but ultimately he’s now playing for a new team and we’ll see what his work rate is like and hopefully he’ll have a good game, not only from a leadership point of view.”
