Jasper Wiese led the Springboks’ charge in a record-setting triumph over the All Blacks in Wellington.
Wiese returned to the Bok starting lineup for the first time since July, following his suspension for an attempted headbutt against Italy.
In his absence, Rassie Erasmus used three different players at the back of the scrum – including his younger brother Cobus against Georgia, Siya Kolisi against Australia at Ellis Park and the loss to the All Blacks in Auckland, and Kwagga Smith in the win over the Wallabies in Cape Town after Jean-Luc du Preez was ruled out through illness.

Against New Zealand, Wiese delivered exactly what the Boks had been missing. He provided a powerful carrying option in midfield while adding physicality to the Bok pack.
His influence was central to the 43-10 victory, the All Blacks’ heaviest defeat in Test history.
CHESLIN: We owed ourselves a big performance
Statistically, Wiese stood out. He carried 15 times for 113 metres, beat three defenders, won a turnover and completed seven tackles.
More than the numbers, his presence gave South Africa front-foot ball, helping to establish control and create attacking opportunities for the backline.

The 29-year-old’s performance underlined his value as the first-choice No 8 heading into the closing stages of the Rugby Championship.
With Argentina next up at Kings Park on 27 September, Wiese is set to play another decisive role.
