The British & Irish Lions will be without Garry Ringrose for Saturday’s final Test against Australia in Sydney, ending the centre’s dream of becoming a Test Lion.

Ringrose was withdrawn from Andy Farrell’s matchday squad for the second Test last week after feeling the effects of a concussion in training. Having already missed the series opener due to a head knock, the 30-year-old has now been ruled out of the third and final clash.

“It’s been a dream of his for so long to represent the Lions and he’s managed to do that, but he wanted to be a Test-match Lion so it’s been devastating for him,” said Lions assistant coach Andrew Goodman.

“Garry is a great lad and a great team man.”

“The boys have all been disappointed for him and he’s disappointed himself, but he’s getting around everyone and making sure he helps prepare them as much as he can.

“He’s a real leader for us especially in our backline, he’s been great.”

Ringrose was in superb form before the injury setbacks and would have been in contention for a starting jersey.

“He’s disappointed as you can imagine. Garry was playing some amazing rugby through this tour,” Goodman added.

Meanwhile, Mack Hansen, Joe McCarthy and Sione Tuipulotu all took part in light training on Tuesday as they push for selection in the final Test.

FARRELL: Dramatic Lions win what dreams are made of

Hansen missed the first two Tests with a foot injury, while McCarthy – who started the opener – has been battling a foot strain. Tuipulotu has been recovering from a tight hamstring.

The Lions have already wrapped up the series after a dramatic 29-26 win in Melbourne and are aiming to seal a 3-0 whitewash – a feat last achieved in 1927.
