A luckless Wallaby has been ruled out of Sunday’s one-off Test against the Springboks in Perth after suffering another injury setback.
Charlie Cale is expected to miss the rest of the year after dislocating his shoulder at training.
The loose forward is set to undergo surgery, with Western Force forward Nick Champion de Crespigny called into Les Kiss’ squad as his replacement.
It is the latest setback for Cale, who has endured a frustrating run of injuries.

He missed almost two months earlier this year after hurting his shoulder during the Brumbies’ Super Rugby victory over the Highlanders.
Cale had previously played through a shoulder problem for much of 2024, describing the injury as a “ticking time bomb” before eventually undergoing surgery.
His 2025 campaign was then disrupted by stress fractures in his back.

Despite his injury troubles, Cale has remained part of the Wallabies’ plans under Kiss.
The 25-year-old has played all four Tests since the new coach took charge, having been restricted to just six appearances for Australia since making his Test debut in 2024.
