The Springboks’ striking new jersey for Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry has been unveiled, but fans wanting to wear it won’t get it cheaply.

Nike and SA Rugby on Wednesday revealed a special-edition jersey for the four-Test series against the All Blacks, with two versions on sale.

The stadium jersey is priced at R1,499 at the SA Rugby Shop, while supporters wanting the Test replica slim-fit jersey will have to cough up R2,699.

The Boks will debut the new strip at Ellis Park on 22 August.

Described by Nike and SA Rugby as a jersey “like no other”, the design pays tribute to South Africa’s heritage.

At its heart is a subtle tone-on-tone graphic featuring the lyrics of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika arranged in the shape of the South African flag.

The anthem’s words appear in all five official languages used in the national anthem – Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Afrikaans and English – symbolising the coming together of South Africa’s diverse cultures and communities.
