Top 14 outfit Lyon have secured the services from next season of one of South African rugby’s versatile and celebrated backline talents.
The French club on Friday confirmed the signing of playmaker Sanele Nohamba, who has ended his stint with Japanese Top League side Shizuoka Blue Revs.
The former Junior Springboks scrumhalf, who can also play flyhalf, made just five appearances across two injury-hit seasons in Japan.
Lyon announced the two-year deal of Nohamba on Instagram, with the likes of former teammates Wandisile Simelane, Emmanuel Tshituka, Madosh Tambwe and Fez Mbatha responding to the post in the comments.

Nohamba previously played for the Sharks between 2019 and 2022 before reviving his career at the Lions, where he became the SA Vodacom URC Player of the Season in 2023-24.
The Sharks had reportedly shown interest in re-signing the 27-year-old as a replacement for Springbok No 9 Grant Williams, who has joined the Kobelco Kobe Steelers, amid concerns over the future of fellow Bok scrumhalf Jaden Hendrikse after a series of concussions.
